The numbers 419 refers to the section of the Nigerian criminal code that deals with getting money or goods under false pretenses. The moment I saw the haunting book cover – the partly-covered face of a beautiful woman in blue robes, her face marked by tribal scars – I was attracted to this book. ![]()
